You feel it happening . . .

It probably should not surprise you that as a reseller who kinds specializes in funky vintage items has a few collections of her own. Sometimes the collections start and then fade and they end up being sold but then sometimes they are with you for a long time. I will save another post for my vintage macrame owls that I have been collecting for about 30 years. Instead today I want to share about one that started with just one, and then all of a sudden I am deep in the throws of conjuring for myself!

Let me introduce to you the world of fairy lamps. Here is a quick Wiki history. I have been aware of these for a while but it mostly just a little seed, "huh there are one of those glass candle holder thingees again, why do they call the fairy lamps and why are they so pricey?"

Then about two years ago there happened to be one at a flea market that was a good price and it caught my eye to use for winter solstice decor. It has the amber color, now what I know to be the stars and bars and was so pretty for honoring the sun's rebirth for longer days. No bid deal right, just one for solstice. Then I actually found a couple also in the amber colors that I flipped; one from a flea market and one from a thrift store. I started to think I should keep an eye out for more since the others I had flipped sold crazy fast and I am now realizing really cheap!

Then this early fall that little seed that was lying in the dirt start to become a little sprout when we found a really interesting style one while antiquing with my sister, and I am so glad she got it. The seedling grew to a lovely little house plant when I found a really unique fairy lamp on sale at a vintage store two weeks ago. That was the fertilizer that my growing plant of desire needed because now my friends, I am full on there. Think of Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. I am now scanning all the thrifts and local fleas for them! I am even starting to recognize just the pieces and scored a couple of those this past week. Why you might ask, well you see I even joined an online FB group that has just the parts and wants to try and replace missing fairy lamp pieces. I even was able to match up this red Indiana Diamond Point in flash red with someone who needed it for their top, it makes my Flip Witch heart so happy!

Will this last as long as the owls? Whoooo knows, but for now I am enjoying the cozy warm glow of the candles at night as we are in the dark season. There is just something about those mid century modern glass ware that has grabbed ahold of me and I love it so! I will take all the hobnail votives, ashtrays, and fairy lamps you got!
